Community Service

Serving our
Neighbors

In alignment with our Mission and Core Values, our community service opportunities exist to expand and enhance the curriculum at Hyde Park Schools by providing the opportunity for every student to grow spiritually, mentally, and physically, through service.

Each year, all students participate in Day of Service in the Fall semester and GOWEEK in the Spring semester.

Day of Service and GOWEEK allow students to serve approximately 45 hours per school year. Students are able to record these community service hours towards the Distinguished Community Service distinction and maintain their original documentation of all community service hours using their Presidential Service Awards account.  You can find additional information and details about these two programs below.

In addition to these core programs, there are various opportunities available throughout the year for students to engage in loving our neighbors through service.

If you have any questions, please email Tricia Dunton, Executive Director of Student Life.

GOWEEK is a favorite Hyde Park tradition. Every student in all grades participates in this one-week program scheduled annually in March.

GOWEEK is designed to support a wide range of missions and service opportunities for the purpose of sharing hope through the gospel. Our Elementary students engage by partnering with high school teams: praying alongside them, researching the countries being visited, and connecting to our destinations in varying ways. In Middle and High School, service ministry teams of 8-50 students are sent locally, domestically, and internationally, guided by Hyde Park Schools faculty members. Students, faculty, and staff live and work together for a week of service, cultural immersion, and ministry. Students will deepen their understanding of all God is doing in the world around them, and how He can use their gifts and abilities to impact the lives of others.

Please pray for GOWEEK as we work together to impact the world for the cause of Christ.

Day Of Service

Day of Service is a long-standing tradition that celebrates the opportunities and joys of serving others. We come together as a larger community to pack meals with Feed My Starving Children, a global non-profit organization that provides nutritionally dense meals to hungry children and families across the world.

From our youngest students (4K) to our seniors, HPS comes together in the Leadership Hall at the Hyde Park High School Campus, to help package meals. Over 1300 Hyde Park hands (students, faculty, and parents) packaged 101,088 meals (468 boxes of food on 13 pallets) that will be sent around the globe with various ministries to feed kids in approximately 70 countries (some are countries that our HPS students will serve with GOWEEK in the spring). This is a sweet time for our community and a great reminder that we are the hands and feet of Jesus.
